What is HypnoBirthing™?
HypnoBirthing is a philosophy of birth that offers you the tools to achieve a satisfying, relaxing and stress-free method of birthing. This amazing program teaches you, along with your birthing companion, the art and joy of experiencing birth in a more comfortable manner.
Marie Mongan originally devised the course to support her daughter in giving birth in the USA and from then on it has reached out all across the world. From the work of Dr Grantly Dick-Read she recovered the idea that pain in childbirth, in the absence of special medical circumstances, is linked to fear and tension.
So you will learn to relax and allow your body to labour as nature intended, regaining confidence in your instinctive ability to birth your babies. During labour you will be relaxed but in control, and in this state of relaxation your body is able to release the hormones that advance the labour and that are your natural support against discomfort.
How is the course delivered?
The course is taught over 5 sessions of 2.5 hours each, usually one week apart. It is ideal if your birthing partner also participates, so he or she can learn how to support you.
If you would like to do the course, but you do not think you have 5 weeks of pregnancy left, it is still worth doing it – we can work out a timetable to suit your personal circumstances.
Where do the classes take place?
I offer private classes in the comfort of your own home. I am based in High Barnet so I am happy to travel around North London and South Herts. I have given classes in Enfield, Potters Bar, Borehamwood, Edgware, West Hampstead, Harrow, not forgetting Barnet, my local area.
How much does it cost?
Please send me an email and I will reply with the cost. A deposit is payable when you book the classes, to secure the dates, and the balance when you start the course.
Although I give private lessons, the fee is comparable to other group classes.
What does the fee include?
It includes five 2.5 hour tuition sessions, the HypnoBirthing book, the Rainbow Relaxation CD (or MP3 download), the class handouts and my support via email and telephone until baby comes.
My availability is constantly changing as new people book classes and others complete theirs. Generally, I am available on weekday evenings, Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings.
When is the best time to start the classes?
The right time is when you are ready. Having said that most people choose to book classes starting after their 20 week scan.
How to book.
If you have made up your mind and are ready to book, just send me an email and I will send you a short registration form to complete.
